The following is an explanation of the procedure to get your golf cart registered for legal use in the village.
1. Get your golf cart inspected. Dave Burke of Dave’s Service is our zoning inspector call him at 548-8845 for an appointment to get your golf cart inspected. (Note: Dave Burke Owns the Gatehouse that will be open in April of 2010, Check there for more details) A golf cart that will pass inspection will have the following devices:headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, and must have a rear view mirror. Golf carts only no other vehicle type can be licensed. Maximum speed cannot exceed 25 mph. Modified golf carts may fail the inspection due to the modification. See Dave Burke for more information about acceptable golf carts.
2. Take the inspection report to the Darke county clerk of courts office in Greenville. Make sure you include a valid proof of ownership. A valid Vin or serial number may also be needed along with manufacturer and model.
3. If everything is in order the clerk of courts will issue a certificate of title.
4. Take the certificate of title to the Ohio license agency in Greenville. They will provide registration and license.
Your license is good to operate under our ordnance in Wayne Lakes. You cannot travel or cross state or county highways. Weavers-Ft Jefferson road that cuts through our village is a township road. I am not sure if this same rule applies to this road or not. I will update this article once more information is known. if you need to pass from the north end to the south end of the village you can legally use north drive which utilizes an underpass for Weavers-Ft. Jefferson road.
